Crafted with character! Splotch Studio has just launched the brand new website for Endgrain — and we didn’t stop there, also editing the videos and setting up the social media accounts to match.
Endgrain is the woodcraft studio of Stewart Campbell, a craftsman based in Oakford on the southern edge of Perth, Western Australia, who turns ordinary and discarded timber into beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces.
Stewart first learned to turn wood as a boy at his father’s lathe on the family croft in Scotland. After close to thirty years away from the craft, he has returned to it with fresh enthusiasm, creating bespoke pieces through trial, error and a genuine love of the process.
His work ranges from hand-turned bowls and vases in timbers such as sheoak, paper bark and cape lilac, through to coffee bean resin pens, whiskey tumblers and statement coffee tables featuring poured resin rivers. Stewart also gives old objects a new purpose, with pieces like a vintage grain sieve reborn as a pendant light and a reclaimed timber coat rack fitted with genuine railway dog spikes. Every piece celebrates the natural grain, cracks and character of the wood.
Beyond the workshop, Stewart is also the author of Beyond the Derrick, a candid and funny account of his life on the oilfields.
Alongside the website, Splotch Studio edited Endgrain’s woodworking videos and set up the business’s Facebook, Instagram and YouTube accounts, giving Stewart a complete online presence where followers can share the journey from raw timber to finished piece.
